Noel Cronin, born on December 31, 1947, in the UK, is a distinguished British film editor, producer, and television entrepreneur, renowned for his significant contributions to the preservation and broadcasting of classic British cinema.  

 

Cronin’s journey in the film industry began modestly as a post-boy at Rank, one of Britain’s prominent film companies. His passion and dedication led him to roles as a film editor in Soho during the vibrant 1960s and 1970s. Recognizing the importance of film preservation, he established a film distribution company, focusing on safeguarding classic British films.  

 

In 2015, Cronin founded Talking Pictures TV, a family-run television channel dedicated to airing classic British films and television programs. Operating from his home, with acquisitions and scheduling managed from his shed, the channel has become a cherished destination for enthusiasts of vintage cinema. 

 

His dedication to the film industry was honored in 2024 when he was awarded the British Empire Medal (BEM) for services to television broadcasting.  Cronin authored an autobiography, “Reel to Real – A Life in Film,” providing an insightful look into his career and the evolution of British cinema.
