Death of Sir Sydney Samuelson
It was with great sadness that members of the British Entertainment History Project(formerly the BECTU History Project) learned of the death of our patron, Sir Sidney Samuelson
Sir Sidney was a member of the History Project and always supporting its founder, Roy Fowler in the early days of the Project regularly attending many meetings in Soho and Clapham.He continued to support the Project for as long as personal circumstances allowed him.
Among the many accolades he received were, in 1967, the BSC Golden Camera Award for outstanding services to the U.K. film industry: He was also an Honorary Life Member of BECTU; a Fellow of the BFI; an Honorary Life Fellow of the BKSTS (now IMIS); and an Honorary Life Member of the Guild of British Camera Technicians as well as the first Patron of the British Entertainment History Project.
