Born in Dalston 1917; left school at 14. became an apprentice with CITY ELECTRIC - a supply company pre nationalisation at age of 16 till end of war. Joined Gainsborough Studios as an electrical maintenance worker in 1943. Later joined BBC in Radio studios and later at Alexandra Palace
